Therapy Groups

for Adults

In addition to individual and family counseling and psychotherapy, The Link offers group therapy sessions.

Below is  description of our current group therapy offerings.

 

Expressive Art Therapy Group :

In this on-going therapy group, movement, drama, visual art and writing are used to explore all types of personal growth issues. It is recommended that members currently be or have had previous experience in individual therapy. An interview with one of the group therapists is required.

When: Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30 pm

Group Therapist: Derek Economy, LMFT, MA

LGBTQ Therapy Group: 

In a culture which is predominately heterosexual, many people may face rejection, abuse and harassment from society, school personnel and family. Social and emotional isolation, family and relationship difficulties and other stressors may contribute to low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and other symptoms that interfere with participating in a healthy, whole and centered life.  The Link offers a place to talk with others at a weekly meeting in a supportive, sensitive environment. This weekly LGBTQ group has been meeting since 1995

This group is offered free of charge.

Women's Therapy Group - Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse:

This ongoing group offers a supportive environment for adult female survivors of childhood sexual abuse to explore and share their personal experience. The focus of the exploration is to provide an opportunity for healing and a chance to understand how current life issues may be related to the experience of abuse. It is required that members currently have or have had previous experience in individual therapy. To attend group an interview with the therapist is required.

When: Third Mondays 5:45pm - 7:15pm

Previously The Link has offered groups supporting:

  • Those diagnosed with cancer

  • The Aging, their families and caregivers

  • Men's Therapy Groups

  • Adolescent Therapy Groups

The Link seeks to responds to the needs of the community. If you are interested in a particular group please call our volunteers to let them know of your interest.
