In 1971, The Link was one of the first centers in the nation to become a family counseling center.

Members of our current staff are experienced leaders in this field. 

 

The focus of Family Therapy is to help relieve the stress and distress experienced by one or more of family members. Participating in Family Therapy often results in better communication, the ability to successfully resolve conflicts and an increased sense of well-being for the family.

Family Therapy evolved from "Systems Theory" which introduced the idea that problems are not created in isolation but arise as a result of unhealthy patterns of relating. While we are each individuals, we are also interconnected. We constantly are being influenced and are influencing others. Family Therapy focuses on relationships between members of the whole family rather than only on the individuals. Families decide to attend counseling when there are increased conflicts, isolated family members, lack of cooperation or tension.

Family Therapy offers a place for families to sit down, to share stories of their family life past and present, to heal, to grow, to talk about solutions to what challenges they may be facing. Family Therapy is an excellent resource for helping families identify strengths that can be keys to living in a thriving family.
