Enriched Living

for the Aging & Their Families

Connections Between Generations...

Family Therapy & Conversations

Growing older longer is not a new phenomenon. One out of eight Americans is 65 years or older.

Georgia ranks eighth in the fastest growing older adult population in the US.

By 2030, 1.2 million older adults will call the Atlanta region their home.

The Link's Enriched Living Program focuses on serving the aging population with

counseling, psychotherapy, support groups and community education.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy is designed specifically for those aging as well as those caring for someone who is aging. Individual psychotherapy can assist older adults who may have difficulty with the transitions and challenges of aging. Therapy can be a place of support for those grieving and seeking to address other emotional response to the changes in their lives. Therapy may also be used as a time to discover new enjoyments, to continue to create meaningful life experiences and to develop new support systems.

Individual psychotherapy will also assist family members and caregivers of older adults with communication with their family members, especially if the older adult has a cognitive disorder or other health related issues.

Family Therapy

Family therapy focuses on relationships between members of the whole family rather than only on the individuals. While there are various resources in the community addressing the needs of the aging populations, many families do not have access to affordable family therapy. With this specialized program, The Link offers family therapy to fill the gap of services for older adults and their loved ones.

Family therapy offers a place for families to sit down, to share stories of their family life past and present, to heal, to grow, to talk about solutions to what challenges they may be facing. Family therapy is also an excellent resource for helping families identify strengths that can be keys to living in a successful aging family.

Support Groups
The Link's Enriched Living Program will provide support groups for aging adults and their caregivers. Sharing concerns and expressing emotions in a group setting with others who may be having similar experiences can provide an increased sense of support and a decreased feeling of isolation. Support groups are a common source of therapeutic assistance for loved ones and caregivers of older adults. The Link support groups are facilitated by licensed, clinical psychotherapists.

Community Education

Training will be offered to professional counselors, therapists, and caregivers who are interested in serving this growing population. Education will not only focus on the unique needs of the older adult's biological, spiritual, psychological, and sociological needs but on the needs of the caregivers as well.

Education will also focus on interventions and models of therapy that have been successful in assisting these populations.

The Link offers early morning, afternoon and evening appointments.
